The Jesuit Conference maintains a national advocacy office, which aims to educate and inform legislators, public officials, and multinational corporations on issues of importance affecting the Jesuit mission and Catholic faith. The office is non-partisan and seeks to express how Catholic values such as human dignity and the common good are at stake in policy decisions. The office also advocates by increasing awareness and engaging the nationwide Jesuit network of educational and pastoral ministries on issues such as immigration, domestic poverty, and conflict minerals. The office adopts its advocacy priorities in conjunction with social ministries from around the United States. When necessary, the office intercedes on behalf of international Jesuits and lay colleagues whose lives and ministries have been threatened by war or violence.
