Jesuit Father Robert E. Reiser Appointed President of McQuaid Jesuit High School

May 12, 2014 — McQuaid Jesuit High School in Rochester, N.Y., has appointed Jesuit Father Robert E. Reiser, a current faculty member, as the 13th president of the school, effective July 1, 2014. He succeeds Jesuit Father Edward F. Salmon, who has held the position since 2010.

A native of Buffalo, N.Y., Fr. Reiser attended Canisius High School in Buffalo. He graduated from Canisius College with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and also has master’s degrees from Harvard Divinity School, the University of Rochester, Fordham University and Weston Jesuit School of Theology.

Fr. Reiser returned to McQuaid Jesuit as a faculty member in fall 2013, after having served as McQuaid’s assistant to the president from 2004 to 2006. Prior to his return, Fr. Reiser spent seven years as president of St. Peter’s Preparatory School, an all-male, Jesuit high school in Jersey City, N.J.

“Fr. Reiser has the experience and vision to be a great president for McQuaid,” said Peter Rodgers, chair of the McQuaid Jesuit Board of Trustees, which led the search. “He served as president of St. Peter’s Prep with distinction, strengthening its Ignatian Identity, enhancing the student experience, building educational facilities and ensuring financial sustainability.”

Fr. Reiser’s contributions as president of St. Peter’s Prep included an increased endowment, a new state-of-the-art science center, higher enrollment from a wider demographic and new course offerings.

“He inspired the community to ‘raise the bar’ at St. Peter’s Prep. The Board of Trustees has complete confidence in his ability to do the same for McQuaid Jesuit,” said Rodgers. [Source: McQuaid Jesuit]
