Ignatian Pro-Life Network holds annual Mass and Rally for Life

The Ignatian Pro-Life Network, a union of pro-life groups from Jesuit high schools, colleges, universities and parishes across the U.S., held the annual Mass for Life & Rally yesterday in Washington, D.C.

Marchers attended the Mass for Life at St. Aloysius Church along with the Rally for Life following the Mass, to hear speakers and student reports from schools before joining the March for Life. Jesuit Father Joe Laramie was the guest homilist, the full video of which is now available:

Jesuits Groups Prepare for March for Life Mass & Rally

The Ignatian Pro-Life Network, a union of pro-life groups from Jesuit high schools, colleges, universities and parishes across the U.S., invites participants to the annual Mass for Life & Rally on Jan. 23, 2011 in Washington, D.C.

Marchers are encouraged to attend the Mass for Life at 9:30 a.m. at St. Aloysius Church along with the Rally for Life following the Mass, to hear speakers and student reports from schools before heading out for the March for Life.

In preparation, groups can also read the Jesuit Conference’s statement on the abortion issues, “Standing for the Unborn”, before the march.

Jesuit Shares Story of How His Mother Chose Life, Discusses Importance of Pro-Life Work

Today, pro-life groups from Jesuit high schools, colleges, universities and parishes from across the US are banding together as part of the Ignatian Pro Life Network’s annual Mass for Life & Rally on the Mall in Washington, DC.

The participants will gather on the Mall following today’s Mass for Life where they will hear from speakers and students before heading out to join others at the March for Life.

National Jesuit News recently spoke with the Ignatian Pro Life Network’s coordinator, Jesuit Father Phil Hurley about the importance of Jesuits and their partners to be involved in pro life advocacy work and Father Hurley shared with us his own personal story on why this work means so much to him in the video below.

IPLN Rally will follow on the Mall at the SE corner of 7th and the National Mall. (Note this changed location!) See below for more rally info.

A Change in the IPLN Rally Location

The IPLN Rally will be after Mass on the National Mall, in the grassy area near the SE corner of 7th Street and the Mall, for Jesuit-affiliated groups. Look for the “JESUIT” banner.

Arrangements are being made with The Dubliner restaurant (at North Capitol and F Streets) for Jesuit groups to have the option of pre-ordering and pre-paying for bagged continental breakfast or lunch meals that can be picked up on the way from the Mass to the IPLN Rally on the National Mall. More details to follow here on the FB group next week. Check back in!

You are welcome to join the IPLN rally, venture over to the speakers at the March for Life main rally (west of 7th St on the Mall), or attend a little of both. The IPLN rally will include several talks by Jesuit-affiliated speakers and updates from student leaders at Jesuit schools about pro-life work at their campuses. Both rallies will begin around noon.

The march itself will probably begin to move around 1:30 or 2:00. IPLN Jesuit groups will try to march together as much as is possible, following the JESUIT banner.

Our various Jesuit groups can then disperse from the Supreme Court.

Student Representatives Needed

At the rally following the Mass, a student or member representative from each school or parish will have the chance to say a brief word (1 minute) about the pro-life advocacy work going on in their institution.
