Fr. Ciszek heeded Christ's call to His apostles: Follow me. He followed Christ even to a place where he knew he would endure immense hardship and deprivation. He sought to make Christ known in a place he knew would be hostile and forbidding to his mission. Truly, a worthy apostle of the Lord!

Fr. Ciszek's life opened us to the wide mystery of our vocation. Certainly God wanted some priests to be present also in Gulag camps. Ways how to realize this were leaved to casualties of life. Among them Fr. Ciszek's vocation, studies in Rome, Poland, false document, misadventures with KGB(!!), Gulag camp for ten years and after many other pains. Finally returned to the USA. Thanks for having highlighted it. Fr. Carlo Sorbi, SJ, Italian Jesuit reader of your bulletin.

I've read about Father Ciszek. He was an amazing priest. We need more priests like him today!
