I was a Junior at the Novitiate of St. Isaac Jogues in Wernersville PA when Fr. Ciszek was released and returned to America. He then spent some time at the Novitiate readjusting to his new-found freedom. Because of my long-standing interest in and knowledge of the Eastern Rite liturgies I frequently had the honor of serving at his Masses in both rites. I was profoundly moved by his faith and holiness and will forever cherish those memories. I am very happy to learn that his canonization process is underway. He is truly a Jesuit saint of the 20th century.
