Ciszek was released and returned to America. He then spent some time at the Novitiate readjusting to his new-found freedom. Because of my long-standing interest in and knowledge of the Eastern Rite liturgies I frequently had the honor of serving at his Masses in both rites. I was profoundly moved by his faith and holiness and will forever cherish those memories. I am very happy to learn that his canonization process is underway.
