Dear Greg,
Congratulations on this appointment and thank you for accepting it. The website for the Association of Catholic Colleges and Universities has an encouraging Vision Statement referring to the important role of Catholic social teaching at Catholic colleges and universities in the US. (Would that it already were so!), I think it's helpful if our institutional Jesuit commitments to faith and justice have explicit links to Catholic social teaching and Vatican II. Then institutional orientations to social justice in mission statements, curricular objectives, campus ministry activities, etc. can be seen to be an Ignatian foreground against [not an oppositional term here] a broader Catholic background.
All the best, and prayers,
Tom
