Jesuit Solidarity 2008

"Are there people in the world through whom Christ is calling out to us most urgently? And by his identification with them, are we ourselves called to greater identification, greater solidarity – not only with them, but also with Our Lord? The call to solidarity we have situated in the context of our culture and contemporary world is ultimately the call of Christ to everyone."

Solidarity in Christ’s Mission: Reflecting, Renewing, and Responding

June 18-22, 2008, more than 200 people in Jesuit Social Ministries across the United States and Canada came together to reflect upon their work.  Over five days of inspiring plenary sessions and theological reflections, spirited liturgies, and small group discussions, participants reflected upon the following questions:

  • What is our experience doing social ministry?
  • Where is God present in our ministry?
  • Where is God moving us now in our ministry?
  • Participants left the gathering with new networks of solidarity and collaboration, and with deepened relationships within their Provinces.  To all who attended the gathering, thank you for the community that we built; for the challenges we faced; for the skills that we learned; and for the Spirit we found within and among us.
