The Loyola Institute for Spirituality serves the communities
of Southern California with retreats, training sessions,
workshops, days of recollection, and parish missions in the
tradition of the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius Loyola. LIS
promotes the incarnational and transformative dynamism of
gospel-based Christian spiritualities and seeks to articulate the
relationships between personal and communal conversion,
between Christian faith and social action on behalf of justice.
The services of LIS are offered to all seeking to develop a
deeper spiritual life. Special attention is given to adapting the
activities of LIS to the cultural, racial and social class realities of
the Hispanic, Asian and African-American communities.
Programs are offered in various languages besides
English.

The Jesuit Retreat Center of Los Altos welcomes women and men of faith who seek accompaniment on their journeys of Christian discipleship. Seven Jesuits on staff, with the many religious and lay women and men who assist in our programs, offer encouragement and direction, inviting each person to find God in his or her experience and to live in gratitude and generosity. The Retreat Center, located on 38 wooded acres in the serene hills above Los Altos, is easily accessible from
major highways. Its colorful gardens and rustic trails offer prayerful solitude and inspiring vistas over the Santa Clara Valley and San Francisco Bay.
Since the founding in 1925, the Retreat Center, popularly known as "El Retiro San Iñigo," has offered a ministry rooted in the
Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola. Our programs include and extensive variety of preached weekend retreats (Ignatian and 12-Step), longer summer offerings (the entire Excercises in a 36-day program and a series of three 8-day retreats), other individually directed retreats, spiritual direction, days of prayer, and training programs in giving the Spiritual Exercises. We open the Retreat Center facilities to many guest groups, including high school and college student and faculty groups, parish groups, and ecumenical and interreligious organizations, for their religious retreats, and select non-profit organizations, for their meetings.

Encuentros Familiares (Family Encounters) was founded in
May 1971 by a group of families and Father Florentino Azcoitia
S.J. a Cuban Jesuit priest.
Family Encounters is an apostolic mission whose specific
endeavor is to procure a true sense of peace and unity inside the
home with Jesus Christ in the center of the family life. On a
schedule that last an entire week-end the parents, as well as the
children ages 12 to 20 are quided to this experience. This
program is offered monthly.
In addition to the monthly program we have our FAMILY
NIGHTS every Thursday at 8:30PM. In this event we have talks
given by priests and professionals on topics that concern the
family, followed by the celebration of the Eucharist. There are
courses on Bible, Church History and Prayer given several times

Sponsored by the Society of Jesus (New Orleans Province), the Jesuit
Spirituality Center at Grand Coteau provides a quiet and restful environment for
those seeking to listen to God and to respond to God generously through the
Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius Loyola.
A directed retreat at the Spirituality Center is a personally guided prayer
experience of three, five, eight or thirty days in which the retreatant follows
the dynamics of the Spiritual Exercises while listening for God's personal word
spoken through the Sacred Scripture. Each one is assigned a director with whom
the retreatant meets daily for reflection and spiritual discernment. Silence,
both interior and exterior, is a necessary condition for the efficacy of a
directed retreat.
General Information
Retreats begin with dinner at 6:00 p.m. on the day of arrival (first day
noted on the schedule) and end with breakfast on the last day, unless otherwise
indicated. Please plan to arrive at the Center between 4:00 and 5:30 p.m. on the
evening your retreat begins.
Bring your Bible, a notebook, comfortable clothes and shoes for outside
activity, walking, cycling, and a bathing suit in warm weather. Those who have
special physical or dietary needs should let this be known on their application.
Retreatants may also request directors although it may not always be possible to
assign the requested director.
Transportation
Greyhound buses stop in Lafayette; Continental, Northwest, and Delta Airlines
also serve Lafayette. The Center has made arrangements with the airport shuttle
of Lafayette to provide pickup service for retreatants to and from the Center
from either the airport or the bus station. Cost would be $30.00 per trip with a
$6.00 surcharge for each additional passenger. The service can be contacted at
337-993-8511 (local), 888-596 -4168 (toll free) or by email; lafayetteshuttle@cs.com. Cash or major
credit cards are accepted.

Loyola Retreat House is located 35 miles south of
Washington, DC, just off of Route 301. We are open throughout the year except
the last two weeks of the year.
During the summer months eight-day directed retreats as well as a seven-day
conference retreat are available. On weekends the staff schedules three-day
retreats (Friday evening through lunch on Sunday) for groups from parishes.
The retreat house was constructed in 1958 and is situated on a bluff
overlooking the Potomac River. There are 235 acres of woodlands with many paths
through the woods. The site with the woods, the riverfront beach, and the
spectacular sunsets over the Potomac has been for thousands of retreatants a
means of experiencing God's presence.
The two-story brick building, with central heating and air conditioning, has
seventy single rooms, each with half bath. A well furnished lounge, with
fireplace, creates a comfortable atmosphere for reading and quiet conversation.
Two dining rooms overlooking the Potomac provide plenty of space to enjoy
spectacular beauty while feasting on deliciously prepared meals. There is a
large conference room and seven breakout rooms. The Main Chapel accommodates 80
people, and a small oratory accommodates 20. Thanks to recent renovations, which
included the addition of an elevator, Loyola is fully accessible.

Open year round, this facility offers directed, guided and weekend
retreats.
In January and July, the full Spiritual Exercises of Saint Ignatius are
offered on an individually directed basis. In the course of the year there are
about 20 directed retreats (usually 8-day), 3 guided retreats, and 8 weekend
retreats (four of these weekends are 12-step retreats, and two of them are
directed prayer weekends).
Eastern Point Retreat House (AKA Gonzaga) is
located on the Atlantic shore. The view of the ocean is breathtaking--and always
changing. Retreatants are male and female -- priests, religious, lay -- from
many different backgrounds and religious affiliations. At present there are five
Jesuit priests, a lay woman and a sister of Saint Joseph on the permanent staff,
along with trained and talented guest directors, both women and men.

intersection of I-90 (Massachusetts Turnpike) and I-95(128). Our imposing and
beautiful building is located in a suburban setting that provides plenty of

Most retreats are weekend (Fri-Sun), occasionally there are midweek retreats
(Tues-Thur), rarely 6-day retreats (these seem to be for religious sisters).
There are retreats scheduled during almost the whole year. About 2,500 people
make retreats here each year.
The cost of a regular 3-day retreat is "a free will donation". Those who can
afford to donate $200 are asked to do so; those who are able to donate more can
help defray costs for those retreatants who cannot afford $200. However, no one
who cannot afford to pay should stay away.

Nestled in the urban landscape in Parma, Ohio is "A Place of Peace in the
Forest " . . . the Jesuit Retreat House of Cleveland. Set in 57 acres of
beautiful, rustic woodland, the retreat house offers a variety of programs and
retreats to fit everyone's needs.
From a one-day retreat to a full 30-day exploration of the Spiritual
Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola, the Jesuit Retreat House can move you
closer to God through the gift of prayer.
For those of you looking for the next phase in your spiritual life, an
individually directed retreat by one of the Jesuit or women directors is
perfect. In a personally directed retreat, a director is assigned to each
retreatant. Through daily meetings with the director the retreatant is guided
in:
- Becoming aware of the reality of God's presence and activity
- Coming to trust this awareness
- Responding to this presence and activity
Like most retreats, the environment will be peaceful and quiet. The content
of prayer is based on one's personal journey with God, through scripture, in the
spirit of the Exercises.
Over 3,500 persons take advantage of JRH's spiritual hospitality annually.
This includes such diverse groups as Pre- Cana conferences, Catholic high school
student and alumni retreats, Sisters and Priests, Catholic school faculty
groups, from elementary to university level, Altar & Rosary societies, Holy
Name and Knights of Columbus groups, pastoral councils and non-Catholic churches
to name a few.
JRH's own "in-house" programs include day and evening retreats, our popular
weekend retreats, and retreat weekends for the recovering community.

Celebrating seventy years of service in 1995, the Milford Spiritual Center is
a ministry of the Society of Jesus. It serves people seeking to nurture
spirituality by providing program, facilities, and an environment which help
them find God in all things and live a life of compassionate service.
- Conference Retreats
Scripture is filled with the stories of men and women who found that the
presence of God in their lives generated movement, launching them on a journey.
Sometimes those journeys involved travel, and other times the journey was an
inner one. A retreat is a time for people to ask some basic questions: Where
have I been on my life journey? Where am I now? Where does God seem to be
leading me as I move into the future?
The Milford Spiritual Center offers a number of conference retreats. This is
a chance to enjoy a few days of quiet ... an opportunity to relax ... to
meditate ... to listen and focus on those parts of yourself that tend to get
neglected as we deal with the pressures of day-to-day living.
Contact the Center office for details concerning the conference retreat
schedule.
- Personally Directed Retreats
In the personally directed retreat, the Center offers you an open quiet time
to give attention to your own experience of prayer in a holistic atmosphere.
Each day you have the opportunity to meet with a spiritual director who will
help you follow the lead of God's Spirit. The retreat also offers communal
liturgies each day to help strengthen your purpose and faith.

The mission of the Jesuit Center is one of prayer and hospitality which is
realized in four principal ways. Central to that mission is the work of the
Center’s Spiritual Growth Staff, namely, their research, direction and training
for the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius. In addition, the mission is
realized through hosted programs for Catholic and other religious groups locally
and from the wider mid-Atlantic area. A third mission component comprises a
variety of Ignatian-based programs for the apostolic works of the Society of
Jesus and local dioceses. Finally, the Center’s mission is carried out through
the work of senior Jesuit Community members who not only pray for the Society
and the Church but also provide sacramental ministry for guests and for local
parishes.
The Jesuit Center is located nine miles west of Reading, PA. We have 250
acres of beautiful rolling hills, planned roads, walkways, terraces, grottos,
and cloister gardens. Our facility has 85 private bedrooms, a large and small
dining room, conference rooms, small meeting rooms and several small parlors for
group meetings.

Follow the country road through the gateway, and it's like coming home. The
blue waters of Lake Winnebago wrap around our twenty acres like open arms.
Located just 80 miles north of Milwaukee, and five miles south of Oshkosh, on
Highway 45, we welcome men and women of all faiths to our silent, conference
retreats.
A little more than one hundred fifty years ago, the people of the Winnebago
tribe built their villages on this point, fished and hunted here, and set out in
their canoes from these shores. Here, where Lake Winnebago's western shore
straightens out toward Fond du Lac, Chief Oshkosh and his people offered worship
to the Great Spirit.
Early in this century, the Fahrney family built its summer home here. The
architect was instructed to use only materials and workmanship from the
immediate area. It was the scene of many family gatherings and much gracious
living.
In 1952 the property and buildings were purchased by the Jesuits. The Manresa
residence was added, the other buildings remodeled, and for eight years this was
the site of the novitiate of the Wisconsin Province of the Society of Jesus.
Many young men came to discern their vocation to follow Christ in the footsteps
of St. Ignatius.
When the novitiate moved to Minnesota in 1960, the Fahrney mansion and
attendant buildings became a retreat center serving the spiritual needs of men
and women from throughout the United States and Canada.
We are open all year round, starting with weekend retreats in September and
going until the end of May when we begin our 8-day directed retreats. AA and
Al-Anon retreats are offered in the months of May, August, October, November and
December. There is a Couples' retreat scheduled around the Valentine's Day
weekend in February and another Couples' retreat in July.
All of our rooms are private. We have several first floor rooms with private
bathrooms for those who have special needs. Our facility is handicapped
accessible.
For information on our retreat dates and answers to any questions you may
have, please call us at 920-231-9060.
