St. Mary Student Parish

Ann Arbor, Michigan

St. Mary Student Parish is the Catholic parish for the students, faculty and staff of the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, located just two blocks from the center of campus. St. Mary Student Parish has been serving the Catholic community at U of M for more than 80 years. Catholic campus ministry is the core mission of the parish, which is staffed by members of the Society of Jesus.

Though the parish’s emphasis is on campus ministry, it offers a mix of faith and service activities for parish members and families. The Catholic Student Association (CSA) is the primary student organization on campus committed to serving students by promoting and inviting students to the various programs St. Mary Student Parish offers. Additionally, CSA organizes regular outreach activities to engage the campus community.

The Graduate Students & Young Professional Group (GRAD) hosts gatherings at a local restaurant for "Soulfood," a social hour followed by a speaker and discussion on a topic related to their Catholic faith. Undergraduate students can participate in Newman Student Gatherings for prayer, discussions and fellowship.

Additionally, St. Mary’s offers student an Alternative Spring Break. Participants put their faith into action for a week of service to one of nine U.S. sites or to one of two international sites for a service immersion trip.
