Died

Jesuit Father John E. Reilly died Oct. 29, 2012, at Colombiere Center in Clarkston, Mich. Fr. Reilly was born on Oct. 22, 1928, in Chicago. He entered the Society of Jesus on Sept. 1, 1946, at Milford, Ohio. He was ordained a priest on June 14, 1959, at West Baden College, West Baden Springs, Ind. He took final vows on Feb. 2, 1977.

Fr. Reilly graduated from St. Ignatius College Prep (SICP) in Chicago. He worked in administration at SICP from 1962 to 1975. His positions at SICP included: teaching and assistant principal (1962-1968); principal (1968-1970); and president (1970-1975). Fr. Reilly then worked at Loyola University Chicago. His duties there included: Assistant to the Chancellor and acting director of athletics (1976-1978); Director of the Parents’ Associates [Development Office] (1978-1984); Director of Stritch School of Medicine Annual Award Dinner (1982); Assistant Vice President for Development (1984-1997); and Assistant Vice President for special advancement projects (1997-2008). Fr. Reilly was also the superior of the Jesuit residence (1989-1995). He moved to Colombiere Center in 2008.
