Jesuit Father John O’Malley has been chosen as the recipient of the American Catholic Historical Association’s (ACHA) “Distinguished Achievement Award for Scholarship” for 2012.
Fr. O’Malley, a theology professor at Georgetown University, will receive the award for making a significant impact on the understanding of Catholic history during his career. The award is not for one book or any single piece of scholarship, but for a sustained series of contributions that have fundamentally animated the research of others besides being significant in their own right, according to the ACHA.
O’Malley will receive the award on January 7, 2012.
