The Princeton Review and U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) has named eight Jesuit Colleges and Universities to their list of the “nation’s most environmentally responsible ‘green colleges.’”
The Jesuit institutions which made the list include Boston College, College of the Holy Cross, Fairfield University, Georgetown University, Loyola University of Chicago, Marquette University, Santa Clara University and Seattle University.
“As Jesuits, we seek to find God in all things. Naturally, that would include the environment, His very creation. For a Jesuit university seeking the right relationship between God and His creation is a natural outgrowth of their Ignatian identity,” said Jesuit Father Greg Konz, Secretary for Higher Education at the Jesuit Conference.
The Princeton Review’s Guide to 311 Green Colleges: 2011 Edition profiles 308 colleges and universities in the U.S., and three in Canada, that “demonstrate notable commitments to sustainability in their academic offerings, campus infrastructure, activities and career preparation.”
