Beckman, John J.

Jesuit Father John J. Beckman, longtime pastor and administrator, died on March 11, 2011, in Cincinnati.

Fr. Beckman was born on February 25, 1921, in Cincinnati and entered the Society of Jesus on February 14, 1943, at the Milford Novitiate, Milford, Ohio.  He was ordained on June 14, 1954, at West Baden College in West Baden, Indiana, and professed final vows on August 15, 1960.

During his years in the Society Fr. Beckman was pastor at Holy Family Church in Chicago; principal at St. Xavier High School in Cincinnati; an administrator at Loyola University Chicago; director of the Men of Milford Retreat House in Milford, Ohio; and a hospital chaplain.
