Five Jesuit colleges and universities were among the nation’s top schools for alumni participants in the Peace Corps in its 2011 Annual College Rankings.
In the category for medium colleges and universities (5,000 – 15,000 undergrads), Boston College was ranked #9 with 38 alumni serving; Georgetown University was #10 with 37; and Marquette University was #25 with 21.
For small colleges (under 5,000 undergrads), Gonzaga University was ranked #3 with 23 alumni serving, and Seattle University was #23 with 16.
“That Seattle University ranks high in the number of its alumni who participate in the Peace Corps comes as no surprise to those of us who have watched these young men and women grow in their commitment to service during their student years,” said Jesuit Father Peter Ely, vice president for Mission and Ministry at Seattle U. “The university aims to develop leaders for a just and human world. What better way than to serve in the Peace Corps?” [Peace Corps]
