Blouin, Charles J.

Brother Charles J. Blouin, S.J., departed this life on August 10, 2009 at Our Lady of Wisdom Healthcare Center, New Orleans, LA. Bro. Blouin was 84 years of age, 47 years a Jesuit, and 31 years as a formed brother in the Society.

Born in Gonzales, LA on April 12, 1925, Charlie graduated from Gonzales High School in 1942 and served in the United States Army from 1944 until 1946 and then in the United States Navy from 1946 to 1950. He entered the Jesuits on June 1, 1962 at St. Charles College in Grand Coteau, LA. He did his tertainship at Tampa, FL in 1975-76 and received his final vows at St. Charles College in 1977.

During the years from 1964 until 1985, Bro. Blouin served as the assistant treasurer of St. Charles College; Treasurer of Jesuit High School in Shreveport; and Minister at St. Charles College, Jesuit High Tampa, and Ignatius Residence. At Our Lady of the Oaks he served as House Manager and Minister at different times. In 1985, Charlie was assigned to Jesuit High as Minister and served until 1992 when he became treasurer of Loyola University community. In 2001 due to health reasons, he moved to Ignatius Residence and later to Our Lady of Wisdom to pray for the Church and Society.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Dena Blouin, eight sisters, and a brother.
